ABIE.NL - History
AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS IN EUROPE (ABIE) was founded in London in October 1975. The objective was to provide a forum for Australians working in Europe and European business people associated with Australian industry to meet regularly, get to know each other and discuss topics of mutual interest.
Today, ABIE has an membership over 1,000 drawn from a wide spectrum of Australian and European businesses. Banking, finance, manufacturing and the service industries are all well represented, as are smaller enterprises. With increased interest in the European community, ABIE membership in Australia now exceeds 250.
ABIE is a non-political organisation whose aspirations lie solely in networking all interested in bilateral trade between Australia and Europe to establish contact with similar dedicated colleagues.
ABIE (NL) is an arm of ABIE (Europe) serving The Netherlands.
ABIE Worldwide
Since ABIE was founded in London in 1975 it has secured a strong base in the UK. In 1988 ABIE decided to add credibility to the words ‘in Europe’ in its title and accordingly established offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Finland and
Austria. In addition, with increased interest in the European Community, also set up offices in Australia. Each ABIE branch holds regular functions and seminars for the benefit
of its local members but ABIE members worldwide, are encouraged to attend functions in other countries in order to maximise networking opportunities.
